A Tour of the Saratoga Suite

September 29, 2009

One of our two master suites, the Saratoga boasts 1500 square feet and an 180-degree view of the Saratoga Passage. About half a block away from the rest of the Inn, this is the perfect place for a secluded romantic getaway or restful and recharging weekend. Take a look at what there is to enjoy:

Fully stocked kitchen, bamboo floors throughout…

The informal living and dining area, including a fireplace, which opens out onto…

a large private deck with a breathtaking view of the Saratoga Passage!

There is a separate bedroom – rest your eyes on a king bed with European down-filled duvet.

And the views aren’t for the living area only… the oversized whirl-bath jetted tub includes two private windows that look right out to the water.

Spa Essencia

September 13, 2009

I must confess: I am picky when it comes to my spa and beauty treatments. Facials especially need to be top of the line – after all, your skin is the largest organ in your body, and your face is the first thing people see! So as I headed down the stairs at the Inn to the beach level, where the Spa Essencia is located, I was both excited and a tad nervous about how my skin would look and feel after I got a facial. But by the time I got down there, the relaxing atmosphere – chocolates and sitting in a garden by the beach waiting for my treatment – made me focus on nothing but the beauty of the Saratoga Passage.

And the remainder of my spa experience lived up to the relaxing start. My aesthetician, Susan, took time to carefully examine my skin and go over her recommendations for treatment. The experience was a great combination of excellent skin care and a relaxing hour of pampering – a balance that is not as common as it should be! Using steam, lymphatic massage, exfoliation, and a variety of serums specifically chosen to suit my skin’s needs, Susan spent an hour getting my skin in great shape for the upcoming season. And she gave me some great tips along the way – including that the beginning of the seasons are the best times for facials. The whole experience was relaxing, and even went above and beyond – not only did I leave with my face feeling smoother than it has in many years (pre-adolescence, perhaps?), but I had a hand and scalp massage during treatment and a thank you note from Susan in the mail a few days later.

So, they have my hooked…. I think I will be doing my seasonal facials from now on. Take a look at the few of the photos I snapped of the spa (none during my treatment though… I was way too relaxed to focus on anything else, which is saying something for me!).

The view while waiting for treatment:

Dear Susan… she was fantastic!

Some of the products and tools she used to work her magic… many available for purchase!

The Inn’s Garden

September 8, 2009

Summer is winding to a close (it’s pouring rain as I write this!), but the beauty of our garden is still worth sharing. Our main garden – as well as the cottage gardens and all other plants at the Inn – are lovingly cared for by two of our employees. They definitely go above and beyond – I’ve seen them out in the garden planting and replanting for hours, making sure that the arrangement and colors of the plants are the most aesthetically appealing. Take a look at what they’ve created:
